Scientific Conduct
Ethics
The word ethics is derived from Greek word ‘ ETHOS ‘ meaning character.
Ethics is a branch of knowledge that govern good or bad, right and wrong conduct and behaviors of an individual or organization.
The committee for ethics in science and intellectual property takes a numbers of steps in order to raise the awareness in scientific research community.
A draft was prepared on values and principles of scientific research and distributed, commented and improved.
Revised version of that draft is now being distributed to all institutions engaged in scientific research and higher education in ISRAEL
In 2nd stage, the EISIP Committee provides teaching aids to various fields of research.
In 3rd stage committee will offer guidelines for establishment and maintenance of professional bodies engaged in scientific research.
Values and Principles used in Scientific research are as follows
1. Honesty
In a scientific research, always honestly report the data, results, methods and procedures. Do not fabricate, falsely or misprint data.
2. Integrity
Keep your promises and agreements, always act with sincerity in any scientific research
3. Carefulness
Avoid careless errors, always carefully and critically examine your own work or work of your peers
4. Confidentiality
In scientific research, protect the confidential communications, patent records, paper submission and personal records.
5. Social responsibility
Try very hard to promote social good and prevent the social harms through research
6. Respect for colleague
Always respect your colleague and always treat them fairly
7. Legality
All scientific researchers always know and obey relevant laws and govt. policies
Intellectual honest
It is an applied method of problem solving by an unbiased, honest attitude. Facts are presented in an unbiased manner and not twisted to misleading impressions or to support one view or another
